When writing the Abstract

Include:

~an interesting first sentence

 

~enough background for the reader to understand why you conducted the study

 

~a summary of the major model(s) and/or methods used in your study

 

~an overview of your major findings

 

~a brief conclusion about the findings

 

 

Do not include:

~references

 

~abbreviations, unless the term is used several times in the Abstract

 

~too many detailed resultsĀ (limit the amount of numerical data)

 

~detailed statistical findings

 

~too much text. Most journals have a limit for the length of the Abstract
(frequently 250 words). Be sure to meet this guideline.
